Actor Vijay had taken a break from Thalapthy 63 to visit his son studying abroad. He is now back in Chennai, and shoot for the Atlee directorial is proceeding as planned.
According to a report by Cinema Dinamalar, the shoot was rescheduled to accommodate Vijay’s visit abroad. The film’s spokesperson told Silverscreen there has been no delay, “Everything is proceeding as planned.”
The spokesperson also denied reports about changes in shoot location. It was said that the filmmakers have shifted the sets to a large indoor studio after fans of the actor began crowding on sets. “No such changes have been made, everything is as planned,” the spokesperson said.
Speculations say that a title and first-look poster may be unveiled on April 14. Huge sets of a football stadium is said to be constructed in Chennai’s East Coast Road.
As reported last month, excited fans have been following the actor to the shoot locations. Videos of this have gone viral online. A few fans are seen taking their bike and following Vijay’s car shouting ‘Thalaiva Thalaiva’, and Vijay asked them to go back and not follow him. In another incident, a group of fans standing on a fence to meet Vijay fell on the other side. Vijay and a few others went to their help.
Thalapathy 63 is reportedly not a regular sports drama, but an investigative thriller with a sports backdrop. Vijay said recently that the film was lighter than his previous ones.
This is the actor’s third collaboration with director Atlee after Theri and Mersal, both big-budget films. It features a big star cast with Nayanathara, Kathir, Vivekh, Yogi Babu and others. The film is produced by Archana Kalapthi under the banner of AGS Entertainments.
AR Rahman is the music composer for the project, and Vivek is the lyricist. Soundara Raja recently joined the cast of Thalapathy 63. The actor, who has previously worked on films like Dharmadurai, Sundarapandian and Kadaikutty Singam, took to his Twitter handle to announce the news.
In mid-February, gaana singer and Super Singer participant Kapish Poovaiyaar was also said to have joined the cast. This was when Chennai’s famous Napier’s bridge was recreated at a popular studio in the city for the shoot. Some work for the film was also taking place at Binny mills.
